In the past ten years, I have been on fifteen western big game hunts in three states. I have experienced a wide spectrum of outfitters and guides ranging from outstanding to poor. The best camp I have ever hunted from was operated by Phil and Deb Page for White Cloud Outfitters out of Challis, Idaho.
Phil Page is unquestionably the best guide I have ever hunted with. He is the consummate outdoorsman. He handles riding horses and pack animals extremely well. His knowledge of big game behavior and movement patterns is outstanding and all aspects of the hunt from game location and field scoring to trophy caping and packing meat were accomplished in a most efficient and professional manner. The thing I appreciated most about hunting.with Phil was his emphasis on safety. There is nothing better than a safe and successful hunt.
A really important part of an lengthy wilderness hunt is good food and a comfortable camp. Deb Page exceeded my expectations in this department. Her cooking was delicious and the camp was orderly and hygienic. She also has a most impressive mastery of riding and packing horses and is an outstanding outdoors person.
Both Phil and Deb are honest, sincere and have very pleasant personalities. They are natural teachers and are more than willing to share their knowledge and experience. Spending time with these fine people was simply great.
If a person is interested in a career in guiding and outfitting, there is an opportunity to learn from the very best in the profession. Phil and Deb operate Rocky Mountain Guide School in Dillon, Montana. Their combined knowledge and experience and their willingness to share their knowledge guarantee a great learning experience.
