Rocky Mountain Horsemanship is a blend of natural yet practical horsemanship. Many times we are using
the same horse to perform several different tasks. Such as roping to doctor cattle on the ranch, riding or
packing in the back country, to showing in the reined cow horse event. All these different disciplines help us
to advance in our horsemanship. Making a versatile horse is a very important part of our program and it
brings much satisfaction and personal accomplishment. Four days after a pack trip this year ( 2003) our 5
year old gelding won the 5000 limited hackamore class at the Dillon Stock Horse Show. This is the type of
horsemanship we are interested in and many others are also as we want a versatile horse that is well trained
and broke gentle to many different tasks. Our goal is to help people understand a responsible yet practical
ground working program that relates well to the horse when you are on his back. We also help ones to see
the importance of packing young horses in preparation to being ridden. We start packing ours as yearlings
with light loads. This helps prepare a horse beyond compare for riding when done properly.
We keep our groups small at our clinics so each person gets the one on one attention they need and deserve.
