June 9 Day, 27
Today we break camp and pack up to head out, hardly believe it’s over. We all had a great time, hated to leave. All students are handling stock, packing, riding and getting along good. June 10 Day 28
Day off, everyone needs the rest. Students are making calls to Outfitters lining up jobs. June 11 Day 29
After breakfast we clean up gear and put everything away. We review all hitches, (boxbasket, barrel, crowfoot, one and two man basco, the single, double and triple diamond). Also go over knots such as dutchman, bowlen, clove, and the manger knott.
We ride reviewing horse training techniques that you will use on your new job. It’s a full day.
June 12 Day, 30
Breakfast, students are packing up, taking last minute pictures leaving for their new jobs. Diploma’s are handed out. Encouraged to continue learning and progressing in the-skills taught. Keep a good attitude and have a fun and safe falls work.
When students apply themselves to what they are taught at the school it’s amazing to see how much they can learn and advance in this field. It makes us as the instructors feel proud to see the progress each student makes.
June 13 Day, 31
We travel south to look for Bighorn Sheep. At times using a backpack to access the higher country. It is extremely
important to know how to field judge Bighorns, because in most cases one can only harvest a 3/4 plus curl Ram. Also
these tags are quite rare so it is important to be able to tell approximate scores. We also see Elk Deer & Antelope
these days.
Direct Quote:
"Phil and Debbie Page posses great knowledge, unique charm, and an abundance of patience.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner tables are always decorated with good food, healthy appetites, and
honest laughter. To accept a group of strangers willingly into their lives, if only for a
while, still speaks greatly of their character. Phil and Debbie became friends that helped me
produce experiences and memories that will be forever etched in my mind"
